This online webinar focuses on a diary, bought in Bratislava in 1934. Its purchaser, a young Patrick Leigh Fermor, would go onto become one of the greatest travel writers of his generation. The diary reached my desk in 2013, and became one of the most challenging projects in my career in Conservation to date. This online talk will illustrate the conservation work carried out on the diary, with an insight into the delicate balance maintained between the preservation of aesthetical and historical traits of cultural heritage.
