Event Details

The GESUALDO SIX is a new vocal consort performing in in a style reminiscent of the “Kings Singers” who popularised this type of unaccompanied vocal group singing. It is many years since a their style of music has been heard in Linlithgow, and we are delighted to welcome them to the town.
They comprise of some of the UK’s finest young consort singers from English chapels and cathedrals, directed by Owain Park. Formed in March 2014 for a performance of Gesualdo’s Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday in the chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge, the group went on to give over sixty performances around the United Kingdom and abroad in its first three years. Over this time, The Gesualdo Six further developed a passion for ensemble singing that for many of them stemmed from formative years as choristers in churches and cathedrals around the country.

The group will present a wonderfully varied programme of choral music ranging from the atmospheric and spiritual to the light hearted and tuneful. They travel from the renaissance to the present day and from sacred to secular with mastery. This concert features works from their debut album, English Motets, with highlights by William Byrd and Thomas Tallis, alongside pieces by Arvo Pärt and Eric Whitacre. This promises to be an evening to remember.

Linlithgow Arts Guild

Linlithgow Arts Guild is a voluntary organisation. Its aim is to “Bring Excellence in the Live Arts to Linlithgow”, and since 1969 we have had the privilege of promoting many fine performances by artists, ensembles and orchestras of world renown. The vast majority of performers are professional musicians who perform internationally. The concerts are open to everyone. Our programmes are varied and we hope to attract as many people as possible to spread the substantial costs of our events. Tickets for individual concerts are on sale to the general public for all of our events. We normally have around 200 season-ticket holders who comprise the membership. Our audience numbers have averaged around 200 in recent years, with nearly 400 for major events. We have sold tickets throughout Central Scotland, and sometimes further afield..
