Indigenous peoples and other forest guardians are under threat from lower immunity to respiratory diseases such as COVID-19 and a lack of access to healthcare. Destruction of their rainforest home from a surge of illegal logging and mining is increasing while the world is looking elsewhere, exposing them to the virus and exacerbating the climate crisis Rainforest communities are threatened and killed Threats for protecting their lands and themselves.
On Sunday, 21st June, The Rainforest Foundation UK and its partner organisations in the US and Norway are hosting global livestream event, broadcast on TikTok and YouTube in support of indigenous peoples’ fight against COVID-19 and destruction of their rainforest home in Africa, Asia and South America.
The 3-hour event will consist of live and pre-recorded performances by artists from around the world including our founding patron Sting. You will also hear directly from indigenous leaders, activists, ecologists, scientists and A-list ambassadors throughout the night.
