Sinfonia also celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020. Founded by Neil Mantle, who has conducted it ever since in over 200 concerts, it has delighted audiences at Linlithgow Arts Guild on a number of occasions. The orchestra is a highly successful mixture of professional players and amateurs, with an age range of 17 to 70, all united in one common aim: to make music of the highest standard of which they are capable.

The Orchestra looks forward to its 50th Anniversary Season including a celebratory performance of Mahler’s epic Resurrection Symphony in the Usher Hall in November 2020. Plans are also advancing for the Sinfonia’s first trip outside the UK in October 2021.

Organizer

Linlithgow Arts Guild

Linlithgow Arts Guild is a voluntary organisation. Its aim is to “Bring Excellence in the Live Arts to Linlithgow”, and since 1969 we have had the privilege of promoting many fine performances by artists, ensembles and orchestras of world renown. The vast majority of performers are professional musicians who perform internationally. The concerts are open to everyone. Our programmes are varied and we hope to attract as many people as possible to spread the substantial costs of our events. Tickets for individual concerts are on sale to the general public for all of our events. We normally have around 200 season-ticket holders who comprise the membership. Our audience numbers have averaged around 200 in recent years, with nearly 400 for major events. We have sold tickets throughout Central Scotland, and sometimes further afield..
