Everyone is missing their frequent visits to beloved cinemas and festivals, and the thrill that comes from watching an exciting new release on the big screen. Edinburgh International Film Festival and Curzon Home Cinema are delighted to present an online festival of the best new cinema for you to enjoy at home.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival was inaugurated in 1947 and is the world’s longest continually-running film festival. Postponed from its usual June slot due to the global health crisis, the festival has curated this ‘digital edition’ to introduce UK audiences to the breadth of programming the festival is renowned for. The festival began life as the International Festival of Documentary Films and was opened by John Grierson, founder of the British Documentary movement and since its inception has pioneered retrospective programming as well as being at the forefront of introducing Scottish filmmaking talent to the rest of the world. With an emphasis on new talent, discovery and innovation, now is your chance to get familiar with a selection of films to fill the void, mark the occasion and whet the appetite for the glorious day cinemas are open once more.
