Event Details
Ade Adesina’s striking black and white surreal imagery invites you to experience life in another world. This exhibition of new work by the artist is a commentary on current affairs and how the human footprint affects our planet.
A remarkable printmaker, Adesina was originally born in Nigeria (1980) and currently lives and works in Aberdeen. A graduate of Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen (2012), he went on to become the Royal Scottish Academies Artist in Residence at Glasgow Print Studio from 2013 to 2015.
Working mostly in woodcarving, linocut, etching and oil paint, he combines his African cultural roots with British culture, producing work that asks people to reflect on their own past, present and future.
Adesina has recently travelled to Canada, Dubai, the United States, Nigeria and the Scottish Highlands, gathering information for his new work. Mirage will also include work that has been made in collaboration with other artists including David Mach RA, June Carey RGI RSW, Tomasz Wrobel and Ian Burke.
