Linlithgow Young People’s Project
Linlithgow Young People’s Project (LYPP) is a youth project which was planted in the heart of the community, more than 25 years ago in partnership with the churches in Linlithgow. It’s fundamental purpose then, as it is today was to support the young people of Linlithgow and the surrounding areas in all aspects of their development. Our primary focus is to foster a sense of ‘hope’ in the lives and circumstances of young people we come in contact with.
When and where do you meet?
LYPP mainly runs out of the LOUNGE at the Vennel in Linlithgow. We run sessions on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm -9:00 pm and Friday afternoons 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. On a Tuesday evening, we generally run sessions around a topic, this can be anything from first aid training to mental health to talking about fear! On a Friday afternoon, we are open for drop-in, young people are welcome to come and go as they like. We have a pool table, x-box one, craft area, tuck shop, book shelf, tuck shop and we also run cooking sessions and an upcycling project. We also do various work within the local schools and in Bridgend.
Currently, all our usual sessions are not running due to Covid-19. We will be running various summer activities both online and, when it is safe to do so, in person with physical distancing. We also have regular content going up on our YouTube channel (LYPP Linlithgow) as well as Facebook (LYPP Linlithgow), Instagram lounge (@lypp_lounge) and Instagram support (lypp_support). For young people who want it, we also have online chat support sessions throughout the week via social media.
Why would I be interested in getting involved?
We are open to all young people aged S1-18 years old. We are open during term time and we run holiday programmes throughout the summer, Easter and October breaks.
