Linlithgow Community First Responders

Linlithgow Community First Responders Logo
Description:

The purpose of our group is to provide the community of Linlithgow and its residents Pre-Emergency Ambulance Care interventions by volunteer ‘First Responders’, in accordance with their training and Scottish Ambulance Service guidelines.

The main objective is to enable ‘First Responders’ to attend Pre-Emergency Ambulance Care interventions, in accordance with Scottish Ambulance Service training, for the benefit of the whole community.

Why would I be interested in getting involved?

Linlithgow Community First Responders are interested in welcoming prospective volunteers in order to discuss a number of volunteering opportunities (including receiving training to be a Community First Responder; support with fundraising activities and Committee work). We are currently seeking volunteers aged 18+ who live or work within the community who could spare as little as 6 hours a month. In return, you would undergo a two-day training course with the Scottish Ambulance Service and on completion would receive a qualification enabling you to attend emergency calls.

Anyone who wishes to help their community can volunteer and no previous medical experience is necessary, although you will need a caring attitude and the ability to deal with potentially distressing situations. You will be trained in the use of automatic external defibrillators, oxygen therapy and a wide range of emergency skills, including how to assist in life-threatening situations such as heart or asthma attack.
