The launch edition of the Black Bitch Magazine appeared in May 2011 with a planned run of 3 issues, then a review of future prospects. Initial responses in that period were very positive and the decision was taken to continue production. The magazine registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation in August 2011 reporting annually to OSCR.
The magazine is now in its 10th year and is looking to consolidate what has been achieved and build on that for the future. Of course, much has changed in that period and looks certain to change even more over the next 10 years.
We are interested to strengthen our admin team and would like to hear from volunteers who would like to tackle the following tasks:
: Standard bookkeeping to keep track of all the usual transactions, a couple of hours per week average.
: A distribution manager to take delivery of magazines and help prepare bundles, one day, every 6 weeks
: A co-ordinator to link with schools and encourage young contributors
: Editorial team members, two evening meetings between each issue, to help generate new ideas, write articles or assist with admin
: And we are always looking for additional delivery folks to ease the load, cover for holidays and illness, average about 1 hour every 6 weeks.
