Linlithgow Union Canal Society Leaflet describing Volunteer activitiesWithout the dedication of thousands of volunteers our waterways would eventually fall into disrepair, leaving millions of lives poorer.   Would you like to volunteer with LUCS? Our team of volunteers love to keep active, meet new friends and do their bit to keep their local canal a special place.  You can come along to the canal basin on a Saturday morning to discuss becoming a volunteer with one of our already active members. Even if you can only spare a few hours during the ‘open’ season (Easter to the end of September) you will be made very welcome.

There are a range of different volunteering tasks that you can choose from…..

  • Serve in the Tearoom which is a very pleasant and warm environment
  • Museum duties where you sell boat trip tickets and talk to visitors about the objects on display (no previous knowledge is necessary)
  • Work on the maintenance of the premises, facilities and boats
  • Become a boat driver or act as crew for the drivers
