One of the UK’s leading jazz singers, Tina May plays this intimate gig in the beautiful St Peter’s Church Linlithgow, accompanied by the superb Euan Stevenson, of award-winning New Focus!
It’s a real collector’s item of a concert, with May – a performer with a big, bright personality – up close and personal and accompanied by the superb Euan Stevenson, of the award-winning New Focus, on piano. Tina May has sung with a kaleidoscope of talents, including the great American jazz players Nat Adderley, Joe Henderson, Ray Bryant and Kenny Clarke and comedian Rory Bremner, and her most recent album, Cafe Paranoia, has been enthusiastically received as a personal tribute the great jazz singer and hipster Mark Murphy. Her international reputation continues to grow, with acclaimed performances recently in Shanghai and Australia, and her superb interpretations of songs sung by Edith Piaf have won approval in Paris and across Europe. A musician as much as a top class singer (she played clarinet in her teens), May really knows how to interact with her accompanists and the energy that she creates is infectious and hugely involving.
