Event Details
The November speaker at the West Lothian History and Amenity Society is Brian Young, a member of the Antonine Guard – ‘Scotland’s Roman Living History Society – patrolling Rome’s Northern Frontier after 2000 years. Brian’s topic is Roman Campaigns and Campaigning in Scotland, and he will bring along some items of Roman weapons and armour to show how they were used or worn.
Historical re-enactment societies offer a different way of looking at the past, with an emphasis on experimental archaeology, and they provide a window into how men and women lived in past times. Note the change of venue – not the usual Chalmers Hall, but the Mackinnon Hall (the Scout Hall), 13 Mill Road, Linlithgow Bridge, EH49 7RA. The meeting takes place on Wednesday 16 Nov, at 7.30pm. It’s open to non-members; if you would like to join the West Lothian History and Amenity Society, you can do so at the meeting. All welcome!
