Event Details

RED PRIEST is the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil.  Led by virtuoso recorder player Piers Adams, they present Baroque music in an exciting way.J S BACH: Brandenburg Concerto No.5

VIVALDI: Concerto for Four Violins

ALBINONI: Oboe Concerto Op 9 No 2

TARTINI: The Devil’s Trill

And works by Marini, Locatelli, Forqueray, Sanz and others

This extraordinary acoustic foursome has been described by music critics as ‘visionary and heretical’, ‘outrageous yet compulsive’, ‘wholly irreverent and highly enlightened’, ‘completely wild and deeply imaginative’, with a ‘red-hot wicked sense of humour’ and a ‘break-all-rules, rock-chamber concert approach to early music”

“Red Priest is like no other early music instrumental ensemble you have ever heard… bringing glee to the concert scene for a decade or more… transforming Baroque clichés into vivid drama, often at terrific speed and with practised coordination…. [with] a bedrock of tremendous skill and timing.”  DAILY TELEGRAPH

Organizer

Linlithgow Arts Guild

Linlithgow Arts Guild is a voluntary organisation. Its aim is to “Bring Excellence in the Live Arts to Linlithgow”, and since 1969 we have had the privilege of promoting many fine performances by artists, ensembles and orchestras of world renown. The vast majority of performers are professional musicians who perform internationally. The concerts are open to everyone. Our programmes are varied and we hope to attract as many people as possible to spread the substantial costs of our events. Tickets for individual concerts are on sale to the general public for all of our events. We normally have around 200 season-ticket holders who comprise the membership. Our audience numbers have averaged around 200 in recent years, with nearly 400 for major events. We have sold tickets throughout Central Scotland, and sometimes further afield..
