Event Details

After all it’s one of the most important aspects of running a successful business. But many business owner-managers often struggle to get to grips with the books, finances and taxes.

This session has been designed to give business owner-managers, directors and managers from start-ups, early stage and scale-up businesses the understanding they need to: improve their financial knowledge and confidence; make more effective decisions; and to know which bits of the business are working (and profitable) and which bits are not (and making losses).

What the session will cover:
Understanding the role and differences between the key financial statements (year-end), management accounts (ongoing) and setting up KPIs.
Improving your awareness and understanding of the key financial metrics in the business and how to measure and report on these metrics.
Measures to improve and monitor working capital and cashflow.
Establishing and implementing key financial systems, controls and procedures in the business.
Setting up management reporting – what should be included in the weekly, monthly and quarterly MI director packs and assessing performance and returns: budget vs actual.  Business taxes, allowances, reliefs and planning opportunities.

Session hosts, Martin Aitken & Co provide businesses with advice on accounting, finances, raising funding, taxes, business planning and advising directors on the best financial choices to make at each stage of growth.

Who should attend?
Business owner-managers and directors: start-ups, early stage and trading businesses looking to take their business to the next level. For more info contact Email: bgateway@westlothian.gov.uk Tel:01506 283081
